People and Project Planner

Your role

You're not just on the hunt for any job. You're driven to make a real difference - working toward net-zero survey data, by planning the key drivers of Deep’s success: people and projects.

Do you have a natural talent for organizing and a forward-thinking mindset? Are you passionate about coordinating people and projects in a dynamic environment? Then we have the perfect job for you! Join us as a People & Project Planner and play a vital role in ensuring the success of our challenging and exciting projects.

As a Planner for People & Projects, you play a crucial role in coordinating our operations and ensuring efficient scheduling of surveyors, data processors, and boats. The team consists of three people. Your supervisor is the Manager of Planning & Resources, and your counterpart is the Equipment Planner. Together, you ensure that projects are staffed with the best specialists and equipped with the best gear.

What you will be doing

Start Your Day with Impact: As a planner, you’re a true project coordinator. You begin your day with energy by reviewing all unread messages to get an overview of what has happened in the past few hours. You handle missed calls, messages, and emails. For instance, a skipper needs to be signed out from the harbor, a surveyor reports that a project will take three days longer and needs a hotel, and a Chief Surveyor provides feedback on a colleague and requests a change for next time.

The Beginning of Something New: Shortly after, the commercial team comes by with a new request from a salvage company. They want to know if there are enough people and boats available for a new project. With your thorough understanding of the team’s skills and the team’s  technical knowledge, you know exactly who holds which certificates, such as GWO, medical examination, and boating license. You immediately coordinate with the Equipment Planner for the necessary equipment, such as positioning systems, side scan sonar, and multibeam. You report back to the commercial team that it seems feasible and they can send out a proposal.

The Birth of a Project: Here’s where the magic happens. The planner takes the first step by creating an Excel-based plan, meticulously piecing together schedules, resources, and personnel. This plan needs to be communicated clearly to ensure everyone is on the same page.

Collaboration for Success: Consulting with the Chief Surveyor during this phase is essential for discussing the best team compositions. We aim to maximise employee potential, set and achieve learning goals, and ensure balanced teams. Prioritising personal attention and thoughtful team composition is vital for both project success and employee growth.

A Day Full of Dynamics: Later in the day, you chair a meeting with department heads. You provide a brief update on key issues and actively gather information from all parties involved, both internally and externally, to ensure everyone is well-informed and projects run smoothly.
