Deep BV is formed by a close group of more than 80 professionals who are highly motivated to go the extra mile for every client in delivering the best data possible. We are looking for an enthusiastic Marine Mechanic to join our team!


Deep is a dynamic and project-driven organization. We use a fleet of small and larger polyester and aluminum vessels for our hydrographic and geophysical projects. Deep is looking for a Vessel Engineer who keeps our fleet in perfect working condition.


As the Marine Mechanic you work together with the Vessel team. You make sure that Deep’s fleet of vessels is in excellent condition, meeting project requirements. You are responsible for the repairs and maintenance of the fleet.


In this role you will report to the Vessel Manager and work with the other Deepers to create a sustainable future.


Your responsibilities and tasks are:


  • Maintenance and repair work.
  • Detecting and resolving malfunctions.
  • Liaise with our suppliers during trouble shooting.
  • Contribute to the sustainability of our fleet.

The person we are looking for is a technical self-starter with a hands-on mentality, you are involved, see what needs to be done and make sure that it gets done. You bring structure to a flexible environment, you provide follow-up, monitoring and feedback to the people who have asked for your support. You have strong communication skills and have a high service standard internally and externally with our suppliers and contract partners.

We are looking for a pro-active person with good problem-solving skills who has gained relevant work experience in the Maritime Industry:


  • You have substantial experience on maintenance and repairs of vessels;
  • In-depth technical knowledge on vessel mechanics, engines and other essential components;
  • Knowledge of and experience with electrics and electronics;
  • Experience with carrying out repairs and dockings;
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team;
  • Good command of the Dutch language and basic English;
  • Live or want to live in the Netherlands at commuting distance from Amsterdam;
  • You have a driver’s license and are comfortable with driving;
  • Prepared to work outside office hours and office location when needed;
  • Available 0,8-1,0 FTE (32-40 hours working week).
