Deep BV is formed by a close group of more than 80 professionals who are highly motivated to go the extra mile for every client in delivering the best hydrographic and geophysical data possible. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Sales Engineer to join our team!
As a Sales Engineer working with Deep it is crucial you have previous experience with hydrographic or geophysical surveys. With your hydrographic or geophysical experience you are able to translate the requirements of new projects into a proposal that outlines the company’s capabilities and the terms of the bid.
As a Sales Engineer, you and your colleagues in the commercial team look for the best strategy and the right pricing to bid successfully for tenders.
Deep’s ambition is to be a planet proof, sustainable survey company and the commercial team plays a key role in the development of our markets, clients and services. The commercial team engages with our clients, offers and secures projects to ensure a healthy operating result, takes care of client satisfaction and contributes to the general development capabilities of Deep.
You will be the first point of contact for the client, gathering information about the project, including technical details and cost estimates, and translate their requirements into a proposal that outlines the company’s capabilities and the terms of the bid. You might present the bid to the client during clarification meetings and be involved in contract negotiation. You ensure internal support, check technical feasibility with the project teams and other experts within Deep as well as possible execution windows with the planning.
Next to the office-based part of the role, you will go on client visits and discover future leads or markets to build a network of contacts as well as developing Deep’s insight in future projects. As part of this you will occasionally go to trade exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad.
Together with your team members your responsibilities and tasks are:
- Work within the commercial team (sales/marketing/business development)
- Follow up on leads and tender requests, write commercial offers, methodology and project execution plans to fit our client’s needs
- You are responsible for the timely submission of high quality technical and commercial quotations
- You ensure adequate feedback on quotes issued versus work performed
- Contribute to a good capacity planning in consultation with the planning team
- Provide our existing and future clients with the right expertise and develop sustainable relationships
- Meet our clients on a regular basis to learn about new market developments, their objectives, planning of proposed client projects
- Together as a team develop the best strategy, (new) techniques and competitive prices in the commercial and contractual processes

For this role we are looking for someone who is eager, commercially driven and committed,
and who is:
- A client-focused team player, who can also work independently
- Commercially oriented with an HBO / WO technical education
- Experience with hydrographic or geophysical surveys
- Experienced in writing commercial offers
- Detail oriented and works well under time pressure
- Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and verbal
- You live at commuting distance from our Amsterdam office and available 0,8-1,0 FTE (32-40 hours working week).
